COVID (Coronavirus) Advisory

Updated: June 1, 2022

COVID

COVID (Coronavirus) is now part of our lifestyle & world like many other illnesses such as common colds and the flu, with multiple variants. It is known to cause a wide range of symptoms and severity levels, depending on the individual and strain. There are still some aspects of the virus that are unknown.

Our health & safety guidelines for contagious illnesses including COVID, colds, flu, etc., still apply and you should exercise caution with yourself and others as necessary. If you think you have been exposed to COVID or any illness, and you are experiencing any symptoms, you may want to contact your doctor or medical professional for advice or treatment.

  • You may not be able to avoid catching or spreading COVID or any contagion, but you can try to be diligent and do your part when you can.
  • We still recommend that if you have any symptoms of any illness, that you refrain from attending class and possibly spreading any illness.
  • If you believe you have or had any exposure to anyone who has COVID or symptoms of any illness, please refrain from attending class to prevent spread.
  • You can also always test for COVID or get a diagnose from your medical provider to determine what is best for you.
  • There are still many unknowns about the COVID and you should exercise caution as needed or recommended by the CDC
  • Always seek professional medical attention if you have any questions about your health or illnesses.

COVID Status in Colorado 🦠

Feb 17, 2022
COVID and its variants, such as Omicron, are still present and around most of Colorado and the rest of the United States. Cases have spread quickly dating back to Dec 2021 near the holidays, but also resulted in mild to no symptoms for most individuals. COVID cases appear to be on the decline, but safety and precautions should still be exercised. COVID-related hospitalizations are still high, but are declining.

Oct, 1, 2021
Even though COIVD positivity rates declined during the 2021 spring and summer, as of fall and winter of 2021, COVID positivity rates and hospitalizations have been on the rise in the state of Colorado. Counties and cities have had various health recommendations and guidelines in place throughout the year. Mile High Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is in Jefferson County.

COVID History

In late 2019, a virus was on the brink of causing a global pandemic. It eventually spread across the globe including our own state of Colorado.

March 17, 2020 marked the beginning of statewide temporary shut downs of many businesses, facilities, restaurants, schools, and more; including our gym.

Over the past year, multiple medical organizations and government agencies such as the CDC and Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment introduced a variety of recommendations, policies and mechanisms to help people navigate the pandemic, including COVID dials with various guidelines and levels of severity, mask orders, social distancing, testing sites, and more.

RE-OPEN πŸ™Œ

We were able to reopen our doors back in June, 2020!

We implemented new policies, safety measures, guidelines and minor changes to help ensure we could continue practicing our art while keeping our students and instructors safe. We have been able to continue training very successfully with very minimal concerns or issues related to COVID since our reopening and we have not had to shut down again!

Some temporary changes were required for us to open safely and this included:

  • Temporary suspension of drop-in classes
  • Limited class observations
  • Capacity Limits
  • Mask Orders

Some of these policies are still in place as of May 2021, but we are happy to see that some of them are starting to lift such as the mask order for those who are vaccinated.

We apologize for any inconvenience any of these policies that may have impacted you or any potential visitor or prospective student, but we are open and running classes very successfully.

Safety Guidelines

We have implemented new safety guidelines since our reopening in June, 2020.

We expect all members, staff and visitors to comply with these guidelines.

Mask Order History

State and local masks orders are subject to change.

Back in May 16, 2021, Indoor mask orders were lifted per state and county orders allowing businesses to not require masks for individuals (staff & members) who have been vaccinated.

  • Based on state and county guidelines, individuals (staff & members) who have been vaccinated can choose to wear or not wear a mask in our facility
  • We do not require students to be vaccinated or proof of vaccination, but it is recommended for close-contact activities such as ours.
  • Masks are optional at your discretion with consideration of the health & safety of others
  • Parents please use discretion with your children and their exposure, especially if they are not vaccinated.
  • Individuals are not required to wear masks if it prohibits their activity or impacts their health

Effective July 16, 2020, Governor Jared Polis issued an executive order with a statewide mandate for masks to be worn in all indoor public spaces . This order is expected to be extended multiple times until things are normalized and safe, this may take several months.

Social distancing, also called β€œphysical distancing,” means keeping a safe space between yourself and other people who are not from your household.

To practice social or physical distancing, stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arm lengths) from other people who are not from your household in both indoor and outdoor spaces.

It was encouraged to practice social distancing when possible in our facility, but there are certain activities that simply cannot avoid it. Participant discretion is advised.
